This is my painting of a young nephew. The warm light is coming from the front. The shadows and background are cooler. The cool background enhances the skin of the baby. A face is modeled as a sphere; this is the modeling I used. (See my previous posts about modeling forms.) Frontal lighting is wonderful when painting children. The eyes and delicate modeling of children are seen best in this light.
In August 2010 my paintings will be exhibited at the Art for All Canada’s Rainbow Gallery. The Gallery is at 80 Front St. East across from Toronto’s historic St. Lawrence Market. You enter the Gallery through Rainbow Cinemas, Market Square. Viewing the exhibits is free. At the top of this site is a link to Art for All Canada’s Gallery.
