The Excitement of Colors in My Painting - "Winter Colours"
This image is of my painting, Winter Colours.
In my previous post, I wrote about my interest in painting the colours on the snow. Since this was a winter scene, the dominant colours in my painting were cool in temperature. I exaggerated the colours on the snow to achieve a more vibrant colour mixture. In the original scene, the sunlight was not from the left. I made the sunlight from the left. I wanted to paint an exciting mix of warm colours in the building’s larger side. I could have created more space, atmosphere and a cooler impression by glazing a thin layer of white over the building, trees and sky. This was not what I wanted for Winter Colours.
