Hollow Cylinders, Half Spheres, Reverse Cones in Art-Fight Breast Cancer

Look inside hollow cylinders, half spheres and reverse cones. Inside these forms are concave. The outside of these forms were convex. Because light does not reach the inside of these forms, the values or light and dark areas are reversed. The outside is in shadow; the opposite area inside is light. Where the outside is in light, the inside area is in shadow. The values inside are reversed. Try an experiment with a bowl. Under light, the values will be reversed. Look at the rim of the bowl, the value of the rim should be the same. Many vases are a spere with a reverse cone on on top or bottom.

Fight Breast Cancer - Bid, Buy Painting, Autumn Landscape

The CBCF supports this auction. The Foundation benefits all with its works, regardless of country. As a Canadian breast cancer survivor, I participated in a research project for less invasive surgical operations. The tumour was sent to the U.S. for study and follow up. Countries shared research and knowledge and I continue to participate in research projects.

Tops of Cubes, Cylinders, Half Spheres, Reverse Cones in Art

This is a detail from my painting, Autumn Landscape, and an image of the detail in a gray scale (values).

The tops of these forms (cubes, cylinders, half spheres, reverse cones) include colours of the objects above them. They might include warm sunlight, blue sky colours, green from the leaves. A still life under a north sky would have cool light. These tops are usually lighter than the object’s sides in light. The tops have sharp edges with the sides of the forms. I wrote previously that I soften these edges slightly as I find the edges so sharp that the object does not hold its form. I had written about rectangular forms. These are really cube forms as rectangles are usually shapes.
