This is
my painting, Hockey Monument. Unlike most of my sports’ paintings, I was
interested in painting the figure with color temperature, light and shadow.
This modeling does not contribute to the movement of the hockey player. While most shapes of the figure are diagonal,
the blurred edges are limited. The background is primarily made up of
horizontal shapes. These art elements do
not contribute to movement. My usual
objective is to achieve a feeling of movement with my figures.
This is a digital painting using mainly traditional oil painting
techniques and a painterly approach. I used virtual brushes and paints on
coarse cotton canvas (Corel Painter 12 and Wacom Intuos5 drawing pen and
tablet). I worked with mainly impasto and oil brushes. My primary technique was painting wet into wet.
I also glazed transparent paint over dry paint primarily over the shadow and
cast shadow shapes.
