This is my painting, Canoeing Peaceful Solitude. The scene reminded me of the peace I felt
when I was a child canoeing at camp. I wanted to convey this calm and peace in
my painting. I used a horizontal format. My brushstrokes were smooth and I limited my textures. I used low contrast with my color values (light,
dark, gray scale) and saturation (intensity, purity). When I first saw the scene I knew my
objective and considered the elements of art I would use to convey this
objective.
This is a digital painting using traditional oil painting
techniques and a painterly approach. I used virtual brushes and paints
(Corel Painter 12 and Intuos5 drawing pen and tablet).
