I wish my readers a safe and happy Easter.
This painting is Titian’s, The Entombment of Christ. He painted this topic several times. Titian reduced the contrast of edges in much of his painting. He used paints with a dark value and placed beside some dark values, small areas of light. Titian used this technique to emphasize certain features in his paintings. He also moved viewers through his paintings. The lightest colour is the shroud. This contrasts with the dark tomb. Figures emerge from the dark background. Titian was a master with colour and his works were studied by the Impressionists.
