I recently completed a new painting (not yet posted to blog). I was interested in the warm color of the background which draped over the cool color of the table. There was no overlap. Since the background was a warm color, it pushed in front of the cool table. This resulted in the feeling of a drape over the table. Warm colors advance; cool colors recede.
